    • > Coming soon: Resource Volume on Capacity Development

      Book cover

Capacity development practitioners are in for a treat - in the form of a brand new, comprehensive resource volume due to be published by Earthscan in August. The three co-editors, Jan Ubels, Naa-Aku Acquaye-Baddoo and Alan Fowler, have tapped into their vast experience as development thinkers and practitioners to assemble a distinguished group of contributors to the 24-chapter compendium. Together, the chapters provide useful theoretical orientation as well as practical and behavioural guidance on the craft of facilitating capacity development. Both from the perspective of those who 'do' capacity development as well as those who support it, the Volume aims to contribute to more informed, purposeful and effective approaches and to open up a conversation on the emergence of capacity development as a distinct professional field. • > Latest issue of Capacity.org published

The May 2010 issue of Capacity.Org journal titled, Behaviour and facilitating change, is now available. This issue explores the role that the capacity development professional's personal behaviour and attitudes plays in change relationships. In the editorial, Heinz Greijn suggests that it is time to subject this often-elusive quality to the same kind of scrutiny as we do knowledge, skills, and tools and methods for capacity development (CD). In particular: "What aspects of behaviour are relevant in CD practice? Is it possible to change behaviour? And if so, how?" Download Issue 39 for some interesting insights on these questions from a broad range of CD practice areas.
