La Via Campesina is an international organisation of peasants, small- and medium-sized producers, landless, rural women, indigenous people, rural youth and agricultural workers from 56 countries around the world. Its principal objective is to develop solidarity and unity among small farmer organisations. It organises international conferences every five years.
