The Pelican Initiative is a network that was launched in March 2005, following an earlier workshop that took place in Maastricht, the Netherlands, on the topic "How can we learn more from what we do?" The idea of this network was taken forward by a couple of organisations: European Centre for Development Policy Management, Healthlink Worldwide, International Development Research Centre (IDRC), and UNICEF East-Africa. The network currently has around 400 members - development practitioners, policy makers, evaluation specialists, researchers - and on this website a Resource Corner has been opened to share the outcomes of the network's exchanges with a wider public. The initiative is open to all development practitioners, specialists and policy makers interested in the issue of learning for development.
